Notes for Clyde Nix, Veteran of World War One
Erskine Nix (his nephew) was kind enough to provide some additional information on this family. Clyde was the brother of several other Nix men on the WW1 Draft Registration list: Bruce (misindexed as Brude), Reave, and Ulem Nix.
They came from a family of seven boys and four girls; all were born in Bexar, AL, just West of Hamilton.
Of the brothers who were of age to register for the draft, only Clyde served in the war to the best of his nephew's knowledge.
The Clyde Nix Library in Hamilton, AL is named for him. Clyde served in the Army, was Gassed and wounded (Lost an eye). He never wore a glass eye but preferred a patch instead. During the 1930's he was tax collector for Marion County, AL.

"I was nearly seven years old when she died. I recall her as a rather tall woman who enjoyed a toddy every afternoon, and smoked a pipe while she drank it, apparently drinking and smoking didn't harm her as she lived to be over 100.".. a quote from her great-grandson Erskine Nix.
