Over a dozen different Nix males ancestral line have this set of DNA markers. All these families are of American origin, with some having lines dating back into the very early colonial period in the late 1600s. Here is some information to help interpret their DNA results.
The Y-DNA test results showed that their Y-DNA ancient haplogroup was R1b1c. Family Tree DNA describes this haplogroup briefly: R1b1c Haplogroup R1b1c is the most common haplogroup in European populations. It is believed to have expanded throughout Europe as humans re-colonized after the last glacial maximum 10-12 thousand years ago. This lineage is also the haplogroup containing the Atlantic modal haplotype.
  • Their haplotype results matched that of 24 individuals of known origins in Family Tree DNA's private anonymous database of Recent Ethnic Origins. The matches to the testee were as follows: 17 matches from England / UK / Great Britain. 3 matches in Scotland. 2 matches in Germany. 1 match each in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland. Of the near matches to their haplotype whose geographic origins were known, the vast majority were from somewhere in the British Isles or Great Britain's former colonies.
