Information on Y-DNA test results for Cisro Valentine Nix descendent
One Nix male has tested with these markers. His results were only a one-step mutation from the modal DNA markers of the Irish O'Neill Dynasty of Ireland and Scotland. For more information,
you should read the
article about this dynasty and its DNA markers at
National Geographic's website
and at Family Tree DNA's website
The Y-DNA test results showed that their Y-DNA ancient haplogroup was R1b. Family Tree DNA describes this haplogroup briefly:
Haplogroup R1b is the most common haplogroup in European populations. It is believed to have expanded throughout Europe as humans re-colonized after the last glacial
maximum 10-12 thousand years ago.
Here are some webpages with additional information about Haplogroup R1B.
Dennis Garvey's website contains a lot of information about
some of the subgroups of haplogroup R1b.
Whit Athey's analysis of the allele
frequencies found within haplogroup R1b is also very interesting.
This testee's haplotype results matched that of 1 individual in yhrd.org's
mainly continental European database of 32,196 anonymous individuals.
The matches to the testees haplotype results were as follows:
1 person from London, England.
This testee's haplotype results were compared with ysearch.org's
database of 16,807 mainly American and English testees. The results were as follows:
70.25% of the people in the database were also members of Haplogroup R1b, but only 16 other individuals were
a direct 12 marker match to the Nix testee's specific haplotype. 6 were Irish. 2 were Scottish. 1 was English. 4 were American. 3 were of unknown origins.
This testee's haplotype results matched that of 13 individuals in Family Tree DNA's
private anonymous database of Recent Ethnic Origins. The matches to the testee who were of known geographic origins were as follows:
8 persons from Ireland. 5 persons from Scotland.
