Information on Y-DNA test results for James Nix of Ireland's descendent
One Nix male has tested with these markers.
The Y-DNA test results predict that their Y-DNA ancient haplogroup was R1b. Family Tree DNA describes this haplogroup briefly:
Haplogroup R1b is the most common haplogroup in European populations. It is believed to have expanded throughout Europe as humans re-colonized after the last glacial
maximum around 10-12 thousand years ago.
Here are some webpages with additional information about Haplogroup R1B.
Dennis Garvey's website contains a lot of information about
some of the subgroups of haplogroup R1b.
Whit Athey's analysis of the allele
frequencies found within haplogroup R1b is also very interesting.
This testee's haplotype results matched that of 0 individual in yhrd.org's
mainly continental European database of 32,196 anonymous individuals.
This testee's haplotype results were compared with ysearch.org's
database of 21,300 mainly American and English testees. The results were as follows:
70.25% of the people in the database were also members of Haplogroup R1b, but no other individuals were
an exact 12 marker match to this Nix testee's specific haplotype.
This testee's haplotype results matched that of O individuals in Family Tree DNA's
private anonymous database of Recent Ethnic Origins.
